10 Things You Must Do Before You Turn 30

We have all had a bucket list at some point.  There were tons of list being made before me and am pretty sure  hundreds to be made after me. But this is my version of "Things-To-do"  and I hope  you would enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.  Here it goes...

1. Make Friends

Although we meet up new people throughout our lives and we make friends, we often find true friends are among the people we met when we were young. Friendship is one of the most stress free relationships one could have, but it also takes time and commitment just as any other relationship. I believe early the seeds of friendship is sowed, stronger the roots remain.  After all, it feels good to have someone witness your life and stand beside you no matter what.

2. Fail

This is comparatively simple to achieve. I mean most of us would have failed at something at some point in our lives. Yes, it could be that math test which you failed in school or something much more important where you just felt you failed yourself. Point is we are going to make mistakes in our life no matter how hard we try to avoid it. And there may be times we fail but what's important is that it is not the end of the world. But it's important to stand up and walk ahead. We take courage in knowing we have overcome our failures in past. Overcoming fear of failure can only be achieved if you have had fair share of it.

3. Living Away from Home

We are all spoilt by family who make sure we have a comfortable life. There is always food in kitchen, room gets magically cleaned and clean laundry reappear. Of  course  it is accompanied by lot of preaching and bickering which by now has become a white noise. On the other hand,
living alone -> absolute freedom -> super power!
But as our Spiderman realized, with great power comes greater responsibility. Maybe not exactly on time , but you start doing chores which you didn't even know existed. It can be quite unnerving initially. There will be times you would love it and times when you hate it but it's an experience one should absolutely not miss.

4. Fall in Love

No matter how cliché it sounds, it is what it is. You may have read hundreds of books, watched countless movies or seen your friends in love. But trust me, you are never going to truly grasp the concept till you fall in love. Now there are endless possibilities and complications involved. In fact, you don't even have to be in full fledge relationship. But just feeling that mind blowing emotion towards someone. It's a life changing (sometimes even life wrecking) experience but totally worth it.

5. Travel

People who don't travel cannot have a global view, all they see is what is in front of them. Travelling makes you accept new things, understand different culture and different people. It need not be some place exotic or jazzy, just go somewhere you have never been before. It helps you grow on levels you cannot contemplate. As the saying goes "Travel is more than the seeing of sights, it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living".

6. Go Broke

This is something which needs to be experienced while still young. You realize every penny counts and find brilliant ways to survive in minimal budget. True happiness is not getting Rs. 100 when you have Rs.10,000 but it's when you get Rs.10 when you have none. Money may not be most important thing in life but it doesn't make it less valuable.

7. Have a Heartbreak

Giving your heart away almost always follows with a possibility of it being broken. It helps knowing that a heartbreak doesn't kill you ( atleast literally!).  It teaches you that sometimes you have to give up on people and move ahead to catch up on life. And it definitely makes you wiser and prepares you to handle emotional turmoils better.

8. Explore Yourself

Take time to try different things to figure out what you enjoy. While our experiences helped shape us into the people we are today, this does not mean that we necessarily know who we really are. We often find ourselves influenced by other people's goals and desires, so it's important that we take time out to understand what it that we want from life. Go wild!

9. Look After Yourself

Take care of yourself not just when you fall sick but even when you are young and healthy. It's not selfish to take care of yourself, your body deserves it. Don't forget your body is non-renewable, enjoy it whilst you can. So go ahead and pamper yourself! Have no regrets about not flaunting it when you still got it :)

10. Make Peace with Yourself

There would always be things you like about yourself and things you hate about it. And even though we should constantly try to be a better person, it is important that we are at peace with ourselves. We often complain about people judging us but we forget that it's we who judge ourselves before anyone else does. Be brave enough to accept your shortcomings but be braver to forgive yourself.
